Tokyu Hotels announced a plan to develop a hotel in Kawasaki City near Tokyo International Airport, which will become the world’s first “hydrogen hotel.” Low-carbon hydrogen transported by a pipeline from a nearby plant will be used as energy resources through large-scaled fuel cells.

The 7,530m2 building is designed and constructed by Daiwa House Industry. The hotel located in Tonomachi-3 area will have 200 rooms and conference rooms with anticipation to attract tourists from overseas. Completion is due in 2018. Hydrogen to be used in the hotel are made of used plastics, which can provide 30% of electricity and thermal energy required. (2017/05/19)
