APEC, MLIT Holds First High Level Meeting on Quality Infrastructure in Tokyo

Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation and Japanese infrastructure ministry held on October 17 their first meeting on quality infrastructure investment in Tokyo. High level officials in charge of infrastructure development in fifteen APEC economies shared challenges on the topic and their good practices and agreed to promote quality infrastructure development economically and socially effective.

The meeting, co-chaired by Vice Minister Koichi Yoshida of Japan’s MLIT and Dr. Nguyen Duc Canh of Ministry of Construction of Vietnam, consist of three sessions; keynote speeches, presentations and discussion; public-private dialogue.Mr. Izumi Hiroto, Special Advisor to Prime Minister of Japan gave an opening remark, saying that he expected quality infrastructure to be one of the main topics to be discussed in APEC 2017 in Da Nang, Vietnam. MLIT, MoC of Vietnam and Japan Overseas Infrastructure Investment Corporation, JOIN addressed the participants in the first session.

At the public-private dialogue, Japanese private sector including Overseas Construction Association of Japan, IHI Infrastructure Systems, Sekisui Chemical, Mitsubishi Estate, and Japan Dredging and Reclamation Engineering Association gave presentations on their technologies and services.
