Nikken Sekkei and GRAPHISOFT announce strategic partnership

Nikken Sekkei Ltd. and GRAPHISOFT, a Hungary-based global CAD software vendor agreed on strategic partnership to jointly develop Building Information Modeling (BIM) software. They will establish a collaboration team of professionals from the both sides not only for improving BIM capabilities but for advancing BIM implementation in Japan and South-East Asia.

Nikken Sekkei applied BIM to 20% of all of their projects in 2012, increasing the rate to 30% in 2013. Since it established a subsidiary in Japan in 1994, GRAPHISOFT has increased its sales to 2.5 times from 2009 to 2013, as well as its licensing up 4 times.

Work flows of “ArchiCad,” GRAPHISOFT’s BIM software is to be improved through understanding Nikken Sekkei’s designing process and know-hows. GRAPHISOFT intends to incorporate knowledge obtained through the partnership in development of new commercial software. Nikken Sekkei will help the counterpart to promote implementation of BIM in Asian countries. The contract period is from January 2014 to December 2015. (2013/11/22)
