A special purpose company for the hydro power project in Philippines, in which Japanese engineering consultant, Chodai Co. participates, decided to apply a water turbine made by the Japanese company, Voith Fuji Hydro K.K. The signing ceremony was held in Tokyo on December 6, where Voith Fuji Hydro and the SPC, Asiga Green Energy Corporation signed the contract.

Chodai has agreed in 2012 with Equiparco Construction Co., the largest construction contractor in Mindanao and the other two Pilipino companies to develop three hydro power stations in the country. The Japanese consultant invests in the SPC as well as offers technical supports. Approximately 3 billion yen will be invested on the 8 megawatt Asiga River small-scaled hydro power project, aiming to start operation in 2015.

Japanese Ministry of Economy supported the procurement of the water turbine, giving Equiparco’s trainees an opportunity to know the high quality of Japanese turbines. Water turbines for the other two projects in Philippines will be procured in the same scheme. (2013/12/09)
