Construction consultants look to new business in transport with ICT

The construction consultant industry has seen an active movement in the road sector developing business by using Information and Communication Technology (ICT). Expanding their existing business such as planning, investigation and design of road construction into a new field, development of technologies for effective maintenance and big data analysis method are to be targeted. Consultants are looking to focus on markets in emerging countries as well as domestic, speeding development of their business in both hardware and software fields.

Japanese leading construction consultancy companies such as Nippon Koei Co., Pacific Consultants Co., CTI Engineering Co., Oriental Consultants Co., Chodai Co., and Pasco Corp. participates in the exhibition held along with ITS (Intelligent Transport System) World Congress Tokyo 2013, scheduled on 14-18th, October.

Nippon Koei exhibits its consulting contributions such as ITS related research in Vietnam. CTI Engineering introduces new projects and technologies of big data analysis such as energy-saving method by smart phones and traffic analysis at the time of disaster. Oriental consultants offers information on traffic safety business with drive recorders as well as its contributions in Vietnam in the field of ITS. Pasco aims to develop traffic information offering business that can be utilized in automated driving technology. Chodai, integrating its knowledge in road sector with rapidly-advancing ICT, suggests safety monitoring system for bridges, mobile traffic patrol system and so on.

As they hope to strengthen their revenue sources, they are expanding their business scope. Especially the road sector is promising market where their expertise and skills can be made use of. They are accelerating their approaches to the new fields, cooperating with other sectors. (2013/10/16)
