Japanese construction company Shimizu Corporation will launch a new service in April that will allow clients to view the BIM data of completed construction project. BIM data produced by the contractor will be processed into simple design document-level data and stored on Autodesk's cloud service called BIM360Docs as data of a completed building. Clients can freely access the data via the cloud, which will eliminate the need for traditional document-based as-built drawings.

The service is positioned as the final step in Shimz One BIM, the company's ongoing platform for connecting architectural design, construction, fabrication and operations through BIM. A specialized team from the Facilities Division and a major design firm in Vietnam with which the company has a business alliance, have established the system to jointly produce BIM models upon completion of construction. The team will handle approximately 200 modeling projects per year.

The data can be viewed by simply accessing the cloud service. By linking the data to the property management cloud service provided by Property Data Bank, a group company of Shimizu, maintenance management history and repair plans can also be reviewed. (2023/03/10)
