National Land Institute and Public Work Institute tie with Indonesian and Vietnamese counterparts

Two Japanese research institutes, National Institute for Land and Infrastructure Management (NILIM) and Public Works Research Institute (PWRI), and counterparts of Indonesia and Vietnam agreed on technical cooperation respectively in the field of road and transport. The signing ceremony was held on October 31st in Tokyo, where Director-General Toshio Sakai of NILIM and Mr. Herry Vaza of Institute of Road Engineering/ Research and Development Center of Road and Bridge, Ministry of Public Works, Indonesia signed on the document and then Mr. Sakai and Mr. Chinh Vu Duc of Institute of Transport Science & Technology, Ministry of Transport, Vietnam did the same.

Based on the agreement Japanese side will offer to Indonesia the image processing technology to measure road status in Jakarta that has severe traffic conjunctions. In addition, technologies such as pavement, shield tunneling, and environment assessment are to be introduced.

The two institutes will help the Vietnamese side in building of steel bridge on a highway connecting Hanoi and the International Airport and rehabilitation of pavement of Than Long Bridge and so on. Measurement technology on port development and traffic noise are also in the scope of agreement.

NILIM and PWRI will give supports to the two countries through this technical interchange encouraging these Japanese technologies to be applied to governmental technology standards. (2013/11/01)
