Japanese construction giant Shimizu Corp. will test an artificial intelligent-integrated autonomous carrier which delivers materials at a construction site in Tokyo. The robot positions itself by laser sensors and carry goods to the designated spot automatically. The company plans to apply the product in a full swing next year after demonstrating its capability at several sites in Tokyo.
ROBO-CARRIER is a part of the company’s strategic construction system to improve producitivity for the next generation, Shimizu Smart Site, in which connected multiple robots operate autonomously according to the instruction transmitted by the system. “As the robots conduct heavy-load works, craft workers can concentrate on works which require skills, which I believe lead to improvement of production,” said an executive in charge of development of the product at Shimizu.
