Japanese construction company Obayashi Corporation has introduced a facial recognition system based on Panasonic Connect's world-class technology at the construction site of the 2025 World Exposition in Osaka City. During the construction period which will last until the end of February 2025, all construction workers and relevant personnel entering and leaving the site will be subject to facial recognition. At peak times, the system is expected to be used by more than 5,000 people per day.

As the general construction manager for the event, Obayashi is responsible for security management of the entire construction project, not just the scope of its own work. Full-scale implementation of facial recognition will enable both efficient management of the entire construction project and reliable authentication of each person. Construction workers will be able to enter and exit the site smoothly, even while wearing helmets and masks.

After implementing the system, the company surveyed construction workers about the effectiveness of facial recognition for entering and exiting the site. When asked about the speed of facial recognition, 90% of them responded positively. In the future, the company is considering building an integrated ID platform that would allow identification while carrying luggage without having to carry a card or device at all locations.
